Speaking during the ceremony, the General Coordinator, Mrs. Limen Florence who lives with mobility impairment, and the Project Coordinator, Mrs. Gladys Foncham said they have a vision, which is to see a society that accepts and supports disabled and disadvantaged persons to enable them attain their full potentials. They revealed that the humanitarian gesture is sponsored by a benevolent individual named Frans Marcus in collaboration with his friend Peter Abspoel, both based in Holland.
It was also revealed that the funds provided by the duo made it possible for the aid packages to reach 25 persons living with disabilities. While expressing gratitude to the donors, General Coordinator and Project Manager beckoned on people of goodwill, and organisations to channel their support, in order to salvage the living conditions of the disabled living in crisis hit areas of the Country.
The Project Coordinator also revealed that they decided to do a home to home visit because they could not guarantee the security of the PWDs if they converged on one spot. She also noted that the home visits provided an opportunity for the CRCDD team to give a psychological boost to the PWDs, most of who have been confined to their homes for several months because of the prevailing insecurity resulting from Anglophone crisis.
Talking to The Post, one of the recipients, Sidonie Kouete, said she is extremely happy receiving the humanitarian support. She thanked Frans Marcus and Peter Abspoel for showing her love and care, at a time when she is facing a lot of challenges, as the crisis prompted her to flee from her hometown, to Bamenda.
Another beneficiary, Ernest Ayengoh, expressed gratitude to the donors. He also expressed regret that some groups and individuals promised to bring aid to them, but have not fulfilled their promises.
