BUEA, Cameroon – A Non-governmental Organisation, Africa Diabetes and Hypertension Association, and YAPCEC Community Project have donated items to the people of Tole, Buea Sub-division of the Southwest Region, to help curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

The COVID-19 preventive kits were donated thanks to a collaboration between ADHA Empowerment, and YAPCEC Community Project, to fight against COVID-19 in Cameroon communities.

The protective equipment, comprising of hand sanitizers, masks, buckets and cartons of soap were recently handed over to the population.

The mission was headed by ADHA’s Logistics and Humanitarian Personnel, Helen Lebaga.  Representing ADHA’s CEO, Lebaga said the mission was aimed at educating the people of Tole about Diabetes and hypertension.

She cautioned the population against these two diseases before COVID-19.

To her, the population of Tole should be keen about their consumption of sugar, palm oil, ways of lives and hygienic conditions.

Samuel Bochum, CEO of YAPCEC, drilled the inhabitants of Tole village on the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and how to prevent them by following measures prescribed by the Government and the World Health Organisation, WHO.

“It is our own little effort to join hands with the whole world in our small way to make sure we help our community, while looking forward to staying alive and to take action toward building peace because we cannot do anything when we don’t have our health,” he said.

The preventive gears were given mostly to elderly women and men in that locality. Some of the recipients said they were very delighted with the wonderful gesture of the association. “I am very happy for ADHA as they want to make sure that we live a healthy life,” Geofred Amama, 62, told the press.

On her part, Mami Emerencia, 60, said she was delighted for the association in taking care of them to make sure they live longer in this fight against COVID-19.
