Saturday, September, 5, 2020 will remain fresh in the minds of Great Soppo Village (Berlin) and Fako Community, as the day they communed with one of theirs, Ewumbue Monono Churchill who was recently appointed Cameroon’s Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Permanent Representative of Cameroon to the AU and UNECA.
The happy denizens from all walks of life converged on Baptist High School field in Great Soppo, to celebrate the diplomat. The celebrations started with an ecumenical service presided over by a cross-section of clergymen from the Baptist and Presbyterian Church. They thanked God for appointment of the right person at the right place.
Absalom Woloa Monono bearer of the motion of support from the Great Soppo Village and Fako Division to the Head of State, thanked H.E Paul Biya for appointing their illustrious son Ewumbue Monono Churchill to handle not a single post of responsibility but three in total.
On his part, Churchill Monono thanked the indigenes of Fako Division for the overwhelming support and promised to put all his efforts at the service of the nation.
As a sign of gratitude to the population of Fako Division, he announced the creation of two prizes; the Ambassador Ewumbue prize for History for Secondary and High school students in Fako Division and that of International Communication in the University of Buea.
Senator Charles Mbella Moki sees the appointment of Churchill Ewumbue Monono as a square peg in a square hole “This is a great moment for me and our community because Ewumbue Monono Churchill is the first Ambassador from Fako most Especially Great Soppo, we thank H.E Paul Biya.”
In his own reaction, H.R.H Chief Etina Monono declared, “This is a great moment in the life and history of Great Soppo Village (Berlin)”.
H.E Ewumbue Monono Churchill is a seasoned diplomat. He has served in several capacities, including being Minister Counsellor at the Cameroonian Embassy in Moscow. Prior to his appointment, he was a Technical Adviser to the President of the Republic.
