Marius Aboue aka ‘Blind Pass Man’
By Leon C. Kange
It was a battle for pride and it was a battle for points when Tiko United locked horns with the Limbe Football Club Association at the Middle Farms Stadium.
Tiko United’s slow start was quickly punished, with two goals in 25 minutes from Mozart Gwet and Luiz Itare who converted a spot-kick after Rene Mukete was fouled in the box.
The Samba boys then picked up the pace and scored either side of halftime to restore parity, but the joy was short-lived as LIFCA scored again to go 3-2 up via a penalty that drew angry emotions from Tiko supporters.
However, it was a substitute, Marius Aboue who grabbed the spotlight with a series of dazzling performances and no-look passes. The ball at his feet drew roars from the crowd as supporters called him “the blind pass man”.
In the last few minutes of the game, the fans will scream at his teammates to give him the ball and Marius will receive to dazzle or pass the ball without looking.
The disappointing loss means Tiko United sits third with three points while LIFCA occupies the second spot with four points as well as CINYODEV FA who are top on goal difference.
