The regional executive of the Social Democratic Front in the Southwest, meeting on March 9, 2014, in Buea discussed ways to prepare for the upcoming elections in the country. The SDF leaders had as main item on the agenda, sharing good practices and strategising on how to recover back their lost territory in the region, as well as capture new ones.
Speaking to the press, the Southwest Regional Chairman of the SDF, HRM John Kona Makia, said the party is connecting back to the grassroots by making sure that they share in the people’s challenges and act as the people’s voice by advocating on their behalf and fronting solutions to the various solutions the people face.
“The dream of the SDF in the Southwest region is first, for the SDF to be in authority, even without having a council. Whether we are in authority or not, we want to be the change. I have been a mayor and I can assure you that when the SDF is in power, they perform better than other parties, you can go and check. That is why we are here. We want to source young people to come up, take the leadership of the party,” Mayor John Makia said.
He further stated that the interest of the party is not in money, but rather in bringing change and putting in place a people-centred system. He said the SDF is prepared to bring back justice in all spheres of life in the region.
During the meeting, the SDF leadership in the Region received a talk and lecture from Ndifor Richard on Federalism, which is the SDF’s preferred system of governance for Cameroon, as opposed to the Biya regime’s decentralisation.
