The Mountain Boys of Coach Agbor Emmanuel managed to power-past Continental FA in Sunday’s local derby at the Molyko Omnisports stadium.
The encounter which was much anticipated to be filled with flair didn’t live up to expectations in the first 45 minutes, as all was calm with both teams failing to gain control of the ball.
Buea United came into this one with a poor run of results, gaining just two points from a possible nine while their counterparts have been superb with back to back wins. The closest chance for a goal in the first half came in 24th minute when Junior Kome of Continental FA used intellectual skill to dribble past Buea United’s number one, Ndue Bwese, but couldn’t convert the chance as Jimmy Njokam tracked back to make sure the ball didn’t reach the back of the net.
After failing to create a single clear-cut chance in the first half, the mountain boys came back stronger in the second half, earning a free kick at the edge of the penalty box, which Boris Emo used to find the head of Oscar Ikome, who guided the ball home. Four minutes later, Mofa Boston converted a penalty shot, making it two without reply, and ending his goal drought from match day four.
Continental had lost their way in the game as Emerant Motutu made it three-nil and so it ended. Buea United with 11 points leapfrogged Mount Cameroon with 10. One could say the boys hold their future in their hands, or in this case, their feet.
