Civil Society Organisations (C.S.O’s) in Buea are saying yes to Mental Health

Some 80 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Buea are saying yes to Mental Health Awareness through a series of campaigns, as they’ve been championing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) talks under the GBV Justice Alliance.

During the just-ended 16 Days of Activism against GBV campaign, the GBV Justice Alliance in Buea engaged with the community to train key actors and empower advocates and survivors of GBV for greater and sustainable impact.

Diversity is Beauty Africa (DIBA), under the leadership of its Founder, Stella Eyabi, has been accompanying traumatised individuals regardless of gender, class, or colour through community engagement activities.

Given that GBV affects the emotional, mental and economic health of women especially, assisting the pained, disconnected and distorted women remains their drive.

They are helping many to heal and thrive within their communities through Pshycho Therapy and Pshycho Spiritual Counselling.

Apart from benefitting from follow up, Bissong Rita has reconnected with self, healed from a mental health condition and she’s happy to have finally gotten to a place of autonomy, wellness and self-actualisation.

She testifies “l have learnt that bliss is found within me so l am an acclaimed self-lover”. That’s how you secure your peace of mind and guarantee your mental health check she confirmed.

From a broader scale, the GBV Justice Alliance has been preparing volunteers and community mobilisation actors by sensitising them via community outreach on the causes and prevention of GBV.

For over 16 days and counting, they’ve also been meeting behind closed doors with key stakeholders, Government Institutions and foreign partners because it’s time to act now as the theme of this year holds.

Meanwhile, communities have been admonished to cultivate positive social norms, challenge harmful practices, and protect the rights of women, girls, and children.

Together, the GBV Justice Alliance Buea has pledged to build a society where women and girls are free from fear, violence and discrimination of all sorts.
