The Publisher/Editor-In-Chief of one of Cameroon’s leading daily newspapers, Municipal Updates, Cham Victor Bama, has been recognised for his consistency and professional probity in the print media industry.
The celebrated Publisher is the winner of an award that underscores the uniqueness of his commitment and consistency in the media sector in Cameroon.
Cham was handed the award in Limbe on Saturday, June 1. This was during the 9th edition of The Scoop Excellence Award. A representative of the South West Governor chaired it. Of the few laureates, Cham Victor Bama was distinguished for his contribution to the growth of print journalism in Cameroon.
He won the 2023 “Most Consistent Dual Tabloids Young Publisher of the Year Award.” Cham is also the publisher of The Chronicle Times newspaper, a biweekly tabloid in Yaounde.
Handing the award to the emblematic journalist was the General Manager, GM of PAMOL, Mbile Tapea Solomon. Mbile congratulated Cham for his exploits and wished him well.
After receiving the award, Cham told reporters, “I wish to extend exceptional gratitude to all who deemed it necessary to qualify for me for this award. It is a great honour for me and my team”.
He added that, “I am grateful to the CEO of The Scoop Media Group for honouring my exploits”. Cham, who in less than five years has transformed the media landscape in Cameroon with the historic rise of Municipal Updates from a weekly to a biweekly to a thri-weekly and now a daily is a household name.
He restated that: “In life consistency is key. When you are consistent it builds credibility and trust. When you are concerned about consistency it means you are upgrading standards, values and truth in the practice of journalism.”

The award-winning journalist and publisher declared that: “Municipal Updates daily has come a long way and we hope to go a long way from here. It is a great motivation for us and we can only double our hard work and assiduity”.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of The Scoop Media Group, Larry Esong, challenged laureates not to sleep on their laurels. He said, his institution promotes excellence and hard work.
Other laureates at the Excellence Award were the General Manager of PAMOL, the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Fako, Brigadier General Ekongwesse Divine and the General Manager, GM of Mmockmbie Credit Union
