The University of Buea (UB) has reaffirmed its commitment to certifying the degrees of graduates from the ICT University in Yaounde, Cameroon. This assurance comes from the Vice Chancellor of UB, Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, who emphasised that the certification process is ongoing.

The ICT University, with its main campus in Yaounde, is a renowned institution specialising in information and communication technology (ICT) education. Founded by Professor Victor Mbarika, the university has multiple campuses across developing countries, offering a range of programmes in ICT, business, and related fields.

In March 2023, the University of Buea and the ICT University signed a landmark agreement, solidifying their partnership in promoting academic excellence and research. As part of this agreement, UB provides mentorship, quality assurance, and institutional guidance to ensure that ICT University upholds high standards in teaching, research, and student training.

According to Professor Ngomo, this mentorship reflects UB’s commitment to excellence in higher education and its role in strengthening academic institutions in Cameroon. The partnership enables the joint certification of students, ensuring that ICT University graduates meet national and international higher education standards.

It is expected to boost learning and research opportunities for students and faculty members, ultimately contributing to the development of Cameroon’s higher education sector.

Article 4 sub 4 of the agreement states that UB shall specifically undertake to “recognise all previous certificates and diplomats issued by the ICT University”.

The ICT University is a leading institution in ICT education, with a strong focus on research and innovation. Its partnership with the University of Buea is expected to enhance the quality of education and research in Cameroon.

The University of Buea, located in the Southwest Region of Cameroon, is one of the country’s premier universities. It offers a range of academic programmes, including arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and technology.
