Fai Yengo Urges Bui to Embrace Renewal and Vote Biya

In a closing address to the presidential election campaign, Francis Fai Yengo, a senior figure in Cameroon’s ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) and former regional governor, called on residents of Bui Division to rise above years of conflict and unite behind President Paul Biya for a future of “greatness and hope.”

Speaking to supporters on Saturday, Yengo framed the October 2025 presidential vote not as a mere contest for ballots, but as a pivotal moment for healing and reconstruction in the war-torn Northwest Region. The region has endured over seven years of armed conflict tied to the Anglophone crisis, which has displaced families, shutdown schools, and crippled local economies. Yet Yengo painted a picture of resilience, declaring, “What I have seen is not despair. What I have felt is not division. I have seen resilience. I have felt the beating heart of a people ready to rise again – and ready to win again.”

As the campaign draws to a close, Yengo – speaking not just as CPDM bigwig for Bui but as “a messenger of renewed hope” – traversed key locales from Jakiri to Kumbo, Oku to Nkum, and Mbiame to Noni over recent weeks. He emphasised that under Biya’s leadership, the region stands at “the season of planting… the season of return… the season of renewal.” The incumbent president, he said, is “the champion of national stability and progress,” inviting citizens to rebuild, reinvest, and reimagine their collective future.

Yengo outlined concrete visions for transformation, promising that “broken bridges will be rebuilt,” “closed classrooms will be reopened,” and “markets will be busy again.” He envisioned a Cameroon where modern infrastructure reaches remote hills and valleys, where children return to school without fear, and where youth find opportunities to work, create, and lead. “His campaign is not about the past – it is about tomorrow,” Yengo asserted, positioning Biya’s platform as a blueprint for inclusive growth anchored in stability.

To the youths , he said, “Your energy is not wasted. It is wanted.” To women, he said, “You are the pillars of peace and guardians of our future.” Chiefs, teachers, farmers, and traders were reminded that “your participation is your power,” and the election is about “returning to the table of national progress” by declaring loudly, “We, too, are part of the story of greatness.”

In a pointed critique of opposition voices, Yengo warned against those who “claim to fight for us by dividing us,” labeling them “thieves of our future” and “killers” who compromise with forces that have destroyed the region. He urged unity over resentment, stating, “Let us not allow anger to blind us from what unity can achieve.” Instead, the CPDM “stands here not to impose – but to invite,” stretching out hands to every citizen with a call to “walk together again.”

Yengo declared that victory is inevitable because “the future is ours,” marking the campaign’s end not as closure, but as “the opening of a new chapter in Bui’s destiny.”
