GreenSprings Digital University Institute, GSDU, a pioneering private university founded in 2024, has announced the appointment of two distinguished academics to lead its mission of bridging the digital divide in Africa.
Professor Laurent Charles Boyomo Assala has been named Vice Chancellor, and Professor Victor Julius Ngoh has been appointed Registrar, bringing a combined wealth of over 65 years of expertise in higher education, research, and administration to the institution.

Professor Boyomo, a renowned scholar with over four decades of experience, steps into the role of Vice Chancellor with an impressive track record in university teaching, research, and administration.
Holding advanced degrees from the University of Yaounde, University of Paris II, and the Sorbonne, Prof. Boyomo specialises in Media Economics, Corporate Communication, and Political Science.
His extensive career includes serving as Director of ASMAC (Advanced School of Mass Communication) and teaching at leading Cameroonian universities. A prolific researcher, he has published widely on media, law, policy, and communication.
At GSDU, Prof. Boyomo is poised to steer the university toward its goal of fostering innovative digital education. His mission is to provide accessible, high-quality education through digital platforms in ways that will empower the next generation of Cameroonian and African scholars and professionals to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Prof. Julius Ngoh, Registrar
Joining Prof. Boyomo is Professor Victor Julius Ngoh, a distinguished historian and university administrator with over 25 years of leadership experience. Prof. Ngoh’s academic journey spans top institutions in Cameroon, the USA, and Europe, with degrees from the University of Yaounde, Portland State University, and the University of Washington.
A Fulbright Senior Scholar, he is one of Cameroon’s foremost authorities on political history. His previous roles include Dean, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and President of a university, showcasing his expertise in shaping academic excellence.
As Registrar, Prof. Ngoh will oversee academic administration and ensure the smooth operation of GSDU’s innovative programmes. He is expected to contribute to GreenSprings’ vision of transforming education in Africa. “
