Municipal Updates Daily is poised to deliver exceptional coverage of Cameroon’s presidential election on 12th October 2025. This follows a training workshop on election reporting organised for its journalists on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Limbe, Cameroon’s Southwest region.
The workshop, led by Victor Cham Bama, Publisher of Municipal Updates Daily, featured seasoned media professionals as speakers and trainers. Among them were Prof. Che Tita Julius, Senior Lecturer at the University of Buea; Dr. Henry Mekole, Editor-in-Chief of CRTV Southwest; Mme Qui Esther, Certified Trainer and Journalist; Tarhyang Tabe, Publisher/Editor of The Advocate Newspaper; and Roland Akong, Senior Journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Vision4 TV.

In his opening remarks, the Publisher explained that the workshop aimed to elevate journalistic standards and bring a fresh perspective to election reporting. He emphasised the importance of collaboration and maintaining high professionalism during this critical period. “What matters is credibility, not being the first to break the news,” Cham stated.
The workshop covered several critical aspects of election reporting. Roland Akong addressed Cameroon’s political landscape, emphasising that elections serve as a cornerstone of democracy and require proper organisation to maintain their integrity.
Dr. Henry Mekole provided a thought-provoking analysis on countering election-related violence, presenting data suggesting only 33% of democracy is practised globally. He cautioned journalists against manipulation through social media, fake accounts, and foreign interference, urging them to maintain strict impartiality in their reporting.

Gender representation emerged as another key discussion point, with Mme Qui Esther leading conversations about ensuring fair and balanced coverage of women in electoral processes. Meanwhile, Tarhyang Tabe offered practical guidance for reporting in crises, advising journalists to maintain objectivity throughout the entire electoral cycle – before, during and after elections.
Prof. Che Tita Julius contributed a financial perspective, warning reporters against viewing partisan politics as a revenue source. Instead, he advocated for journalists to monetise their skills through ethical ventures that maintain professional integrity.
By the conclusion of the workshop, Municipal Updates Daily’s journalists expressed confidence that the training had equipped them with the necessary skills to provide thorough, balanced and professional coverage of the upcoming presidential election.
