PM Dion Ngute meeting with CPDM stakeholders in Fako

On July 26, 2025, Prime Minister Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute granted two separate audiences to CPDM stakeholders from the Fako and Meme Divisions in Cameroon’s Southwest Region. During the meeting, PM Dion Ngute tasked the grassroots leaders of the CPDM to work for their party’s success in the upcoming Presidential Election on October 12, 2025.

The meetings that particularly focused on the two divisions in the Southwest, we learned, were set against the backdrop of the fact that the opposition has made some symbolic inroads into these divisions in recent times, thus creating a problem for the CPDM in the region and those divisions in particular.

The meetings that lasted several hours were held in camera, with the details of the discussions largely remaining confidential.

Speaking to the press after the meeting of the Fako Delegation with the PM, Minister Nalova Lyonga, who heads the CPDM in the Division, said, the meeting was very strategic, and that it came just after they had held another meeting on a similar subject. “He’s talked to us, like our brother and a member of the government, so it’s really good that we had him here”.

She said they are aware that the upcoming election will be a big one, thus requiring a big fight. “We know that it’s a big fight as it is for everybody, but we’re going to use our strategies. We’re going to use our mindset. What we would believe should be, and that is what is going to be. That is – Fako is going into an election, and it is going to win. There are not two ways about that. We’re going to win, but we want to see and make sure that we win better than we’ve ever done in the past.”

On the strategies they intend to use to reach to voters, Prof Nalova said it still remains within, but when pressed, she said they will use every means possible, including door-to-door campaigns. She also said as someone who teaches young people to embrace and use new technologies, she would not rule out using some of the very best to spread the CPDM agenda. “I don’t see why I should not be able to find those good ones and be able to use them if they are convinced about whom they want to elect, so we’re going to use all those methods”.

She said as far as elections are concerned, they can’t cancel or roll out anything.
