Publisher/Editor-in-Chief Cham Victor Bama says newspaper’s next phase and new innovations will be unveiled at anniversary celebration
Municipal Updates Daily, one of Cameroon’s widely read newspapers, will celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 10, 2026, at the National Episcopal Conference premises in Yaoundé.
The anniversary marks a decade-long journey that began in April 2015, when the newspaper was founded in Buea by its Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Cham Victor Bama.
Over the years, Municipal Updates has evolved from a modest weekly publication into a daily newspaper, navigating several stages of growth along the way. It was relaunched in 2019 and became a biweekly publication in 2020 before attaining daily status in 2022 – a notable feat in Cameroon’s competitive media landscape.
New phase for Municipal Updates

According to Cham Victor Bama, the anniversary celebration will not only look back on the newspaper’s achievements but also set the stage for its next phase of growth.
Among the major initiatives to be unveiled during the event is a project to construct a new and befitting head office for the newspaper. The Publisher also announced plans for new office equipment, as well as the unveiling of a new logo and a new motto for the daily.
Cham said the initiatives are part of efforts to reposition Municipal Updates as it enters its second decade and consolidates the gains made over the past 10 years.
He said several other projects and innovations have been lined up, with some surprises reserved for guests on the anniversary day.
“The event will be an opportunity to unveil the next phase of Municipal Updates,” Cham said, adding that the newspaper’s journey over the past decade had been marked by challenges, growth and transformation.
Guests from across the country and from different walks of life have been invited to attend the celebration.
The October 10 event is expected to serve both as a celebration of Municipal Updates’ decade-long presence in Cameroon’s media landscape and as a launchpad for its future ambitions.
