Dangote Cement Cameroon has launched BlocMaster, a new high-performance cement product designed to transform block production and improve construction standards in the country.

Unveiled as part of the company’s continued drive for innovation in the cement industry, BlocMaster is presented as a specialised solution for block makers, masonry contractors and small construction operators seeking improved productivity, strength and consistency.

Speaking at the launch event, Dangote Cement Cameroon CEO Bertrand Mbouck said the new product reflects the company’s philosophy of introducing solutions adapted to the needs of the market.

“The new product in the Dangote family is called Blocmaster. This product is in line with our policy and philosophy of innovation, as well as our commitment to improving the quality standards of the cement industry in Cameroon.”

He recalled that Dangote Cement had previously introduced 42.5-grade cement to the Cameroonian market and said BlocMaster continues that tradition of innovation.

“When we came into the Cameroonian market, we introduced 42.5-grade cement for the first time, and we are continuing with this philosophy through the introduction of this new product, Blocmaster.”

According to Mbouck, BlocMaster was developed to address the specific challenges faced by block makers by improving production speed and the quality of finished products.

“Blocmaster is a product that responds to the needs of a specific group of professionals — block makers — because it increases their productivity. With its rapid setting properties, blocks can be unmoulded earlier, while achieving early strength and higher strength at maturity.”

Beyond professional users, the CEO said the product also responds to the needs of ordinary consumers looking for stronger and more reliable construction materials.

“Of course, it also meets the needs of non-professional consumers. We are therefore very happy with this magnificent and innovative product.”

Beyond a Product: Dangote Targets Professionalisation of Block-Making Sector

For Christian Bita, Head of Sales and Marketing at Dangote Cement Cameroon, the launch of BlocMaster goes beyond introducing another cement brand. It is also aimed at developing an entire ecosystem around block production.

Explaining the meaning behind the name, he said the “Master” identity reflects Dangote’s ambition to become a reference point in the sector.

“When you look at the name Blocmaster, as the General Manager pointed out, we are targeting a specific niche. The word ‘Master’ means that we want to become the reference and the leader in this particular sector.”

Bita said the company identified several challenges within the block-making industry, including gaps in technical knowledge and the need for better professional practices.

“Beyond the product we are presenting today, our ambition is to develop the entire value chain.”

As part of this effort, Dangote Cement Cameroon has launched an education and demonstration campaign aimed at helping users understand the appropriate applications of different cement types.

“The central activity is education. This morning, we met with professionals in the sector, where we presented the results of various studies. We will continue this campaign in the coming days by going directly to our target audience to carry out demonstrations.”

He warned that improper use of construction materials could contribute to poor-quality buildings and safety risks.

“People need to properly understand the different uses of the various types of cement we offer. Otherwise, we risk creating confusion, and ultimately, we could end up with buildings that collapse.”

According to Dangote Cement Cameroon, BlocMaster has been formulated specifically for block manufacturing and masonry works. The product offers faster setting, higher early strength, improved block uniformity and enhanced performance for applications such as concrete blocks, precast products, paving stones and other construction components.

The company says BlocMaster is produced at its Douala plant under Dangote Cement Group quality management standards and is available through authorised distributors.

Mr Bita added that the company’s ambition extends beyond sales figures, with a goal of raising standards among block producers across Cameroon.

“Beyond Blocmaster, our ambition is to bring this sector up to standard so that those involved can become true professionals”, he said.
