The Member of Parliament (MP) for Menchum North Constituency, Hon. Kum John Nji, has announced a scholarship initiative to support young people from Fungom and Furu-Awa Subdivisions to enrol at the New World Technology Vocational Training Institute in Yaoundé for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The initiative, unveiled ahead of the new academic year, is the result of a partnership between the MP and the vocational training institution aimed at promoting skills acquisition and tackling youth unemployment.
A total of 15 trainees will benefit from partial scholarships. Hon. Kum John Nji will cover the registration fees of two beneficiaries, while New World Technology Vocational Training Institute will pay the enrolment fees for the remaining 13 trainees.
The beneficiaries will be selected from across Menchum North Constituency, with 10 places reserved for Fungom Subdivision and five for Furu-Awa Subdivision.
Calling on interested applicants to seize the opportunity, the MP urged eligible youths to prepare and submit their application files at the institute’s office in Yaoundé.
“This partial scholarship is intended to give young people from our constituency the opportunity to acquire practical skills that can help them build sustainable livelihoods,” the MP said.
The Founder of New World Technology Vocational Training Institute, Fuh Rene Che, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a life-changing opportunity for young people in the constituency.
“This is not the first time Hon. Kum John Nji has supported students. We are delighted that he has extended this gesture to our institute. It is more than financial assistance; it is an opportunity that will transform lives,” Fuh Rene said.
Building Skills for Employment
Located in the Messassi neighbourhood of Yaoundé, New World Technology Vocational Training Institute was established to equip young Cameroonians with practical, industry-relevant skills that improve their employability and encourage entrepreneurship.
The institution was founded by renewable energy specialist Fuh Rene Che after obtaining authorisation from the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training in late 2025. Its creation reflects his vision of helping address youth unemployment through technical and vocational education.
The institute offers training in renewable energy, electrical installation, digital marketing, computer applications, web design, CCTV installation, vehicle tracking systems and other technical fields.
According to Fuh Rene, the goal is to produce graduates who are capable of creating jobs rather than depending solely on government employment.
“We are committed to equipping young people with practical knowledge that enables them to become self-reliant, support their families and even create employment for others,” he said.
Backed by a Growing Technology Company
The vocational institute is an initiative of New World Technologies, a renewable energy company founded in 2019.
Over the years, the company has carried out several solar energy projects in Cameroon, including installations at ICT University in Yaoundé and the Palace of the Fon of Weh in Menchum Division.
Looking ahead, the company says it intends to expand its footprint across Africa while continuing to promote clean energy solutions and vocational training for young people.
By combining technical training with scholarship opportunities, the partnership between Hon. Kum John Nji and New World Technology Vocational Training Institute is expected to widen access to vocational education and improve employment prospects for young people in Menchum North.
