Nestlé Cameroon, a leader in the food and beverages sector, has been awarded for its exemplary dedication to the welfare of the environment. In this light, the company received the Outstanding Environmental Commitment Award in the Littoral Region, in recognition of its continued efforts in environmental compliance, sustainable innovation, and commitment to communities and the planet.
The ceremony was organised by the Littoral Regional Delegation of the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Protection, and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED). The Environmental Awards marked the 2025 edition of World Environment Day in the Littoral Region. The official ceremony was held on June 5, chaired by Mr. Aboubakary Haman Tchiouto, representative of the Littoral Governor. The event aimed to raise awareness about plastic pollution and highlight concrete environmental initiatives that are carried out by various actors to make the planet safer and better.
During this year’s event, Nestlé Cameroon was recognised for integrating sustainability into its industrial operations and consumer experience.

Reacting to the award distinction, Aboubacar Coulibaly, the General Manager of Nestlé Cameroon, remarked: “We are honoured by this recognition and thank the MINEPDED Regional Delegation for its continued support. This award is not a given, but it motivates us to continue our efforts to support communities and the planet”. He made the statement on June 25, during a working visit to Nestlé Cameroon, during which the MINEPDED Regional Delegate for the Littoral Region officially presented the certificate to the General Manager.
In response, MINEPDED Regional Delegate, Edouard Yougouda, told the Nestlé GM: “Your company demonstrates that environmental sustainability is not a secondary choice, but a strategic lever for building a modern, competitive industry that respects future generations”.
The award to Nestlé is described as well-deserved, given that the Nestlé factory in Bonabéri exemplifies the commitment for which it was rewarded and acknowledged. As it stands, no industrial waste is sent out of Nestlé’s factory to the municipal landfill, thanks to approved service providers who ensure its collection and recovery. Furthermore, the company reveals that 82% of its plastic packaging is designed to be recyclable.
