The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, personal representative of President Paul Biya, and Tunisian Prime Minister, Sara Zaafarani, have reviewed bilateral relations and explored ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the ongoing Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-9) in Japan.

The high-level meeting, initiated at the request of the Tunisian Prime Minister, provided both leaders with a valuable platform to thoroughly discuss and strengthen bilateral ties between Cameroon and Tunisia. The meeting highlights the growing diplomatic cooperation between the two nations within the broader framework of African continental integration.

The talks coincide with the official opening of the three-day TICAD-9 conference in Yokohama, which has brought together African leaders, development partners, and private sector stakeholders. This year’s conference theme is: “Co-creating Innovative Solutions with Africa in the Field of Infrastructure.” The theme underscores Japan’s continued commitment to African development.

President Biya’s envoy, Dion Ngute, is also expected to use the visit to stimulate greater interest from the Japanese private sector in investing in Cameroon.

During the conference, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute will advocate for continued support from the Japanese government for funding projects and mechanisms that have already proven successful over the years.
