Ecobank Cameroon has celebrated 25 years of operations in the country, reaffirming its commitment to financial inclusion, business growth and innovation as it looks to strengthen its role in Cameroon’s economic development.
The anniversary ceremony, held in Douala on 21 October 2026 under the theme “25 Years of Success Together”, brought together Finance Minister Louis Paul Motaze, administrative, traditional and religious authorities, private sector representatives, clients and institutional partners.
The event was led by Gwendoline Abunaw, Managing Director of Ecobank Cameroon and Head of the CEMAC Region, and provided an opportunity for the bank to reflect on its journey since establishing operations in Cameroon in 2001, while outlining its ambitions for the years ahead.
The celebration highlighted the values that have guided the institution over the past quarter-century, including excellence, innovation, customer proximity, trust and sustainable partnerships.
A major highlight was the recognition of four pioneering employees who have served the bank for 25 years. Ecobank Cameroon paid tribute to their dedication, professionalism and contributions to building the institution from its early days into an established player in the country’s banking sector.
The bank also honoured selected clients and partners whose loyalty and continued support have contributed to its growth. The awards underscored the institution’s emphasis on long-term relationships and the role of its stakeholders in shaping its success.
Speaking at the ceremony, Abunaw thanked customers, partners, public authorities and employees for their contributions throughout the bank’s history.
She said the anniversary was not only a celebration of the institution’s achievements but also a tribute to the trust placed in it by its clients, partners and communities.
“It is also a recognition of the passion and dedication of our employees who, every day, contribute to making Ecobank a leading financial institution,” she said.
Looking ahead, Abunaw said the bank remained committed to innovation, supporting customers’ ambitions and contributing to economic development in Cameroon and the wider region.
Over the past 25 years, Ecobank Cameroon says it has focused on providing accessible and innovative financial solutions while supporting businesses, trade, entrepreneurship and financial inclusion across the country.
The Douala ceremony marked the culmination of the bank’s 25th-anniversary celebrations, bringing together stakeholders to recognise the relationships and partnerships that have sustained its operations.
As it enters its next phase, Ecobank Cameroon says it intends to build on its experience by pursuing sustainable growth, developing new financial solutions and working closely with clients and partners to create shared opportunities.
The bank is a subsidiary of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), a pan-African banking group headquartered in Lomé, Togo, with operations in 33 countries across sub-Saharan Africa. The group offers services spanning transaction banking, lending, trade finance, cash management, wealth management and other financial solutions.
ETI is listed on the Nigerian Exchange in Lagos, the Ghana Stock Exchange in Accra and the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières in Abidjan.
For Ecobank Cameroon, the 25-year milestone marks both a celebration of its achievements and a renewed commitment to supporting the country’s economic future through innovation, financial access and lasting partnerships.
