Its recognition celebrates Nfon Mukete’s exceptional contributions to both the global business community and the modernisation of traditional governance in Cameroon.
The Gordonstoun Fellowship is a distinguished award given to individuals who exemplify the school’s core values of service, leadership, and internationalism. By bestowing the honour upon the respected Cameroonian traditional ruler, the institution acknowledges a new generation of leaders who are adept at navigating the complexities of modern business while remaining deeply connected to their cultural heritage.

As a prominent figure in finance, a former Chairman of UBA Cameroon, and a key advisor on major projects, he has demonstrated a mastery of global finance and strategic partnerships. On 5 July 2025, the revered paramount ruler was recognised by the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA) for his “grassroots approach to politics and for constantly reaching out to the needy and communities, irrespective of their cultural backgrounds and political leanings”.
He was awarded the “Best Senator” award for his extensive humanitarian works, which have consistently touched lives across his jurisdiction and beyond.
This international accolade adds to a growing list of honours celebrating the custodian of the Bafaw people. On 8 March this year, Senator Mukete IV received international recognition for his “exemplary leadership style and service to humanity” from the Nigeria-based Naija Diaspora Magazine.
The ceremony, which took place at the Nfon’s Palace in Kumba, was a grand affair attended by the Mayors of Kumba I, II, and III, the City Mayor of Kumba, Gregory Mewanu, members of the Kumba Traditional Council, and the executive members of the Nigerian Union Kumba, led by its president, Akpu MacMillan.
