Supporters of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) in Ndian Division, South West Region, have endorsed President Paul Biya as their preferred candidate for the 12 October presidential election. At a vibrant rally in Mundemba, they pledged unwavering loyalty to the party’s flagbearer. The event, held to launch the division’s campaign, was led by the Head of the Ndian Divisional campaign team, Minister Director of Cabinet, Balungeli Confiance Ebune.
Speakers at the rally highlighted the significant achievements of President Biya’s administration. Representatives from Bamusso, Isangele, Idabato, Kombo Abedimo, Kombo Itindi, Tiko, Dikome Balue, Ekondo Titi, and Mundemba vowed to secure Biya’s victory on 12 October.
“We’ll stick with the old broom,” says Mayor Ekenue Samuel
In his opening address, Mundemba Mayor Ekenue Samuel declared steadfast support for Biya, describing him as “the old broom who knows every corner of the house.” He urged residents to recognise the importance of the election, held every seven years, as a moment to repay the benefits provided by the CPDM through Biya’s leadership. The mayor expressed gratitude for the appointment of Chief Dr Dion Ngute as Prime Minister and for public investment projects in Ndian Division.
“Biya is our choice,” affirms Ndian I Section President
The Ndian I Section President reiterated their commitment to Biya, citing the appointment of Chief Dr Dion Ngute as evidence of the President’s regard for the division. He described Biya as a beacon of hope, a humanist, nationalist, and advocate for peace and dialogue. Calling for unity, he encouraged members to mobilise every registered voter to ensure a CPDM victory.
“Paul Biya champions women’s empowerment,” says Hon Mary Meboka
Honourable Mary Meboka, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, praised Biya’s commitment to women’s participation in politics, highlighting the 30% quota for women on electoral lists. She credited Biya with strengthening democracy in Cameroon and urged youths to lay down arms to enable development projects in the division. Meboka also called for a return to school to secure a brighter future for children.
“Education is key to progress,” says Prof Horace Ngomo Manga
Professor Horace Ngomo Manga, Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, lauded Biya’s contributions to education, noting that the number of primary and secondary schools has more than doubled under his leadership. He highlighted that every region now has a university with employed lecturers, ensuring access to basic education for all. These achievements, he argued, are compelling reasons for Ndian to support the CPDM.
“PAMOL is Biya’s priority,” says PAMOL General Manager
Tapea Solomon Mbile, General Manager of PAMOL, credited Biya’s government with revitalising the company since 2020. From a workforce of fewer than 400 during the crisis, PAMOL now employs over 1,000 staff and is regaining its status as a major producer and employer. The Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions has supported PAMOL’s recovery, including training for plantain farmers and providing suckers to over 100 farmers.
“Ndian: a resilient people,” says Minister Balungeli
Minister Balungeli Confiance Ebune praised the resilience, loyalty, and unity of Ndian’s people, who have endured loss and hardship yet remain steadfast. He urged them to honour the legacy of figures like MN Mbile by rejecting “false prophets” who only appear during elections. Balungeli called for votes for Biya, not as a perfect leader, but as a tested one who has given Ndian a prominent place in Cameroon’s destiny. “Ndian will not be deceived,” he declared.
