Atlantic Chronicles has been ranked among Cameroon’s leading digital news platforms in the latest Media Indice assessment, a nationwide evaluation designed to promote professionalism and responsible journalism within the country’s media landscape.

According to results released on May 18, 2026, by the Scientific Committee of Media Indice, Atlantic Chronicles scored 73 points out of 100, placing it among the top-performing online media outlets assessed during the exercise.

The evaluation was conducted by Peace and Communication Consulting in partnership with the National Communication Council (NCC) as part of efforts to encourage quality journalism, combat hate speech, and strengthen ethical standards across Cameroonian media.

The assessment examined a representative sample of media organisations using criteria that included the relevance and public interest of information, journalistic rigour, balance and impartiality, language mastery, editorial quality, online presence, and social and professional responsibility.

In the online media category, Cameroononline.org emerged first with a score of 80 points. Atlantic Chronicles, alongside Cameroon News Agency and Observer 237, each obtained 73 points, placing them among the country’s best-rated digital news platforms. Group Eco-Outlook and Cameroon Concord followed with scores of 68.33 and 63 points respectively.

The Scientific Committee noted that the initiative seeks to foster continuous improvement in editorial quality and reinforce adherence to professional journalistic standards, particularly on digital platforms.

A total of 14 media organisations across daily newspapers, weekly publications and online media were evaluated. The scores were compiled from individual assessments conducted by members of the Jury and consolidated by a Synthesis Committee.

The latest ranking is expected to further stimulate competition and excellence within Cameroon’s media sector while encouraging news organisations to strengthen editorial standards, enhance content quality and maintain public trust.

Beyond the online media category, The Post emerged as the highest-rated English-language weekly newspaper with a score of 87 points, while The Guardian Post topped the daily newspaper category with 78.83 points.

The Jury has indicated that its next phase of work will focus on evaluating French-language print and digital media outlets.
