Nestlé Cameroun has expanded its MAGGI® portfolio with the launch of a new MAGGI® Powder 8g range, designed to respond to changing cooking habits and the evolving culinary preferences of Cameroonian consumers.

The new range, launched at Nestlé’s Douala factory on Thursday, offers consumers greater choice and flexibility in seasoning their meals, with the powder format allowing for easier measurement and use at different stages of cooking.

The launch brought together journalists, members of consumer associations and Nestlé officials, with the company using the occasion not only to introduce the new products but also to give consumers and the media a closer look at how they are produced and subjected to quality and safety controls.

Speaking at the event, Arouna Koara, Culinary Category Manager for Nestlé Central Africa, said the new range reflects MAGGI’s efforts to keep pace with the changing culinary landscape in Cameroon.

“For more than 40 years, MAGGI® has grown alongside the evolution of Cameroonian cuisine. The trust consumers place in our brand is built on our ability to understand and anticipate changing culinary habits, preferences and emerging needs. With MAGGI® Powder, we are expanding our portfolio to offer greater choice, convenience and flexibility in the kitchen, while remaining true to the flavours and recipes cherished in Cameroon.”

The new range comes in three variants: MAGGI® Cube Seasoning Powder 8g, intended for everyday dishes including tomato sauce, groundnut sauce and Poulet DG; MAGGI® Spice Flavour 8g, with notes of clove, chili, long pepper, pébé, black pepper and garlic, suited to grilled and stir-fried dishes; and MAGGI® Chili & Garlic Flavour 8g, designed for marinades, sauces, soups and other preparations.

The products are manufactured at Nestlé’s Douala factory in line with applicable quality and food safety requirements. They are available through traditional retail outlets across Cameroon, with a recommended retail price of FCFA 100 for three sachets. One sachet is recommended for a meal serving three people, in line with the dosage instructions on the packaging.

Safety And Quality At The Heart Of Production

For Factory Manager Adebayo Udufuwa, introducing a new product is inseparable from maintaining strict standards in its production.

He told participants that safety and quality are the company’s biggest priorities, stressing that Nestlé continually tests its products to ensure that what leaves the factory is fit and safe for consumption.

“The customers can keep their eyes closed because ours are open”, Udufuwa said, adding that they do everything possible to put in their best. He added that the company’s employees are also consumers of its products.

“We are the first consumers of what we produce.”

Journalists and consumer representatives were taken through the entire production process, from raw materials to production, packaging, quality control and the finished products shipped to consumers.

The tour gave participants an opportunity to see the processes behind the products they encounter on the market, while also providing a practical demonstration of Nestlé’s emphasis on quality assurance and food safety.

Consumers Welcome Nestlé engagement

Members of consumer associations who attended the launch welcomed the opportunity to engage directly with Nestlé and learn more about the new products.

They expressed appreciation to the company for listening to consumers and taking their interests into account, particularly in the development of products intended to meet changing needs.

The consumer representatives also praised Nestlé’s communication with consumers, describing its willingness to listen and prioritise consumers’ needs as an important part of the relationship between the company and the people who use its products.

The launch followed an official welcome and presentation of the Douala factory before Nestlé Managing Director Aboubacar Coulibaly outlined the company’s commitment to local innovation.

“With MAGGI® Powder, we continue to invest in locally manufactured products that meet Nestlé’s quality standards while responding to the needs and expectations of Cameroonian consumers,” he said.

The new launch also comes with a fresh MAGGI® signature: “Me & Maggi. So good together.”
